Policies

Why did the driver/monitor make me show ID?
OCCT gets its funding from the SA and Binghamton University. Your BU ID card is like a fare pass, except it does not need to be swiped. Since people that are not associated with the university do not pay to ride our buses, we cannot allow them to "free-ride".

What if I have a guest with me?
The one exception to the BU ID policy is that each student is allowed to have ONE guest with them per trip. The guest must be accompanied by a student and the host student is responsible for the guest's actions. Please let the driver/monitor know that the person is your guest BEFORE THEY GET ON THE BUS.

Why am I not allowed to have my water with me on the bus at night?
After 8:00pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday absolutely no beverages or food is allowed on the bus. The only exception is a sealed plastic soda/water bottle. THE BOTTLE MUST REMAINED SEALED DURING THE TRIP. This policy has been put into place so students don't think they are being singled out. Open alcohol is NEVER permitted on the bus, and therefor all drinking is denied during the specified times.

Why can't I stand up on the bus at night?
Friday and Saturday nights, after 8:00pm there is a no standing policy on all buses for the safety of the riders. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Our recommendation is to get to the union early, and form an orderly line outside of the desired bus until riders are permitted to get on to ensure a seat. All of our buses can seat at least 31 people.

Can I bring food on the bus?
Food is allowed by the driver's discretion. Please be courteous and throw away your trash when you leave the bus. However, no food is allowed on the bus after 8pm, NO EXCEPTIONS.
